On the weight loss front

I forgot to mention that I got some good exercise today! When I went to bed last night, I thought, "You really must get up and take the dog for a walk tomorrow. It's not supposed to rain, so you have no excuse." When I woke up, I had the same thought. It took me about an hour to get it all together, but out the door I went at about 10:30. Man, it was cold. Now, those of you in the mid-west and northern U.S., don't scold me. It wasn't cold enough to snow, or even have ice on stuff. It was cold for Southern California.

There was a cold wind blowing in my face, and big, dark, ominous looking clouds coming in my direction. I hesitated, then called my mother-in-law. I asked her if she would come rescue me if it started raining while I was walking. She said she would, so I kept going. I wanted to go to the post office and back (which is only about a mile from my house).

I dropped the mail, and turned around. The good thing was, I kept up a brisk pace due to being cold and because I didn't want to get rained on!

The doggie and I made good time. We were only about 5 houses away from home when it started to rain! We ran the rest of the way. :-)

Then, since it never did really rain hard, I got motivated to do some weeding in our backyard. I don't know if I've mentioned before that we did construction 5 or so years ago, and our backyard never recovered. It's concrete, dirt and weeds...(Marilyn, here is where you cover the computer screen while your hubby is in the room) and a 1,000 sq. ft. garage. Oh, yeah, I did mention this before. :-)

The soil is very soft and moist because of all the rain, so I spent about an hour pulling up all the green stuff back there. I didn't finish, but I was out of breath, so I figured I probably burned a few calories. Yay me!

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Glad to see that you nearly made it home before it started raining. Nothing worse than wearing soggy clothing.

Cold here is -50 celcius, -58F
Snow we have got in the last 24 hours - 15 cm, 6 inches! :) Wanna visit?

It's just so hard to imagine pulling weeds right now. Some of us DO live in the frozen north and you are causing us to lust over warm weather! :-)

I'm thinking with a 1000 ft. garage the rest of your house must be amazingly huge. I'd be a size 3 trying to keep it all clean.

OK, no I wouldn't. I'd still be a 28, but my house would look really crummy.

PinPA: Didn't even get soggy. :-)
Christine: I would d.i.e. I'd love to visit, though!
Sniz: It's been cold for days here. Now, I know it's not your kind of cold, but we don't have heavy coats here, so we're not really prepared.
Mrs. C.: Well, the house is about 1,400 sq ft., so not so big. His hobby/passion is cars, therefore the large garage. :-)

You know, Claire, my sis in law were just talking about how it's all relative. It was in the low fifties last week and it felt balmy. I got hot in my jacket. But if it had been summer, I would be freezing my butt off. Your body is used to warm temps, so when it drops a little, you feel really cold. My brother is in Iraq and is coming home for 18 days of R&R (not enough for a 15 month deployment) and not only does he have to adjust to an 8 hour time difference, which he'll probably just get used to before he has to go back, but he's used to it being well over 100 degrees. Talk about feeling cold! 70 - 80 degrees will probably feel cold to him!

Too funny that you are from Southern California. I grew up there and lived in the sam house my whole life. I am from Hemet probably never heard of it.

Sniz: You're right. I can't imagine 50 feeling "balmy." :-) It's in the 60s, and I'm freezing. Hug your brother for me - I so appreciate his work.
Susan: I know where Hemet is! It's not all the far from where I live. I live farther west.

I love days when I feel like I've accomplished a lot. They make me feel less guilty for the days I take naps. I love naps.
